About Bielefeld University
Founded in 1969, Bielefeld University holds high standards for the quality of research-oriented teaching. The university comprises 13 faculties covering a wide range of subjects in the humanities, natural sciences, social sciences, and engineering. With around 24,000 students in 116 study programs and over 2,900 staff members, including almost 1,800 researchers, it is considered a medium-sized university in Germany.
The Challenge
Before using evasys, course evaluations and other surveys at Bielefeld University were conducted in a heterogeneous manner. There was a variety of methods, ranging from Microsoft Word-based questionnaires, with results manually entered into Excel, to decentrally funded software solutions. This led to an inconsistent picture and inefficient processes. The rectorate decided to introduce a software-supported course evaluation to offer a centrally supported solution for the entire university.

Results of the Collaboration
With evasys, Bielefeld University can conduct surveys efficiently and centrally. The automation of processes has significantly reduced the time required and improved survey response rates. Subdivision administrators have more time for the specific design and evaluation of assessments. Integration with the campus management system allows course evaluations for hundreds of courses to be created in minutes. The complexity of student surveys has also been successfully managed, resulting in better data quality and faster evaluations.
