About the University Hospital Essen
As a maximum care hospital, the University Hospital Essen (UK Essen) is the largest university hospital in the Ruhr area located at a single site, known as the “Hospital of the Ruhr Metropolis.” Each year, around 50,000 inpatients and approximately 165,000 outpatients are treated. UK Essen focuses on oncology, cardiovascular care, and transplantation. The triad of research, teaching, and patient care forms the foundation of the hospital, with a constant focus on the individual.
The Challenge
Before the introduction of evasys, patient surveys at UK Essen were conducted using paper questionnaires and manually entered and analyzed in Excel files. This process caused data entry errors and required a significant amount of time for data collection and analysis. The introduction of evasys aimed to address these issues by avoiding data entry errors and reducing the effort required for analysis.
The Solution
Since 2013, UK Essen has been using evasys for various surveys and feedback systems. The software is primarily used for continuous paper-based patient surveys. The completed questionnaires are anonymously submitted in mailboxes on the wards, scanned and analyzed by the Quality Management and Clinical Risk Management department. The results are forwarded to the clinics in the form of PDF reports, from which they derive measures for quality improvement.
Results of the Collaboration
With evasys, UK Essen was able to significantly reduce the time and error rate associated with data collection and analysis. The software facilitates efficient execution and evaluation of patient surveys, employee surveys, and risk management processes. By automating these processes, more time is available for data analysis and deriving improvement measures. Additionally, the quick and competent support from evasys contributes to overall satisfaction.
